Carrageenan based printable magnetic nanocomposites for actuator applications

The digitalization of the society in context Internet Things (IoT) demands a new generation sustainable materials and processes to reduce environmental impact technological advances. This work reports on multifunctional nanocomposites based carrageenan magnetic cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4-CFO) nanoparticles, processed by direct-ink-writing their applicability as actuators. exhibit compact morphology with CFO nanoparticles well distributed within polymer matrix. incorporation significantly improves thermal mechanical properties polymer: onset degradation temperature increases 30 °C Young's modulus from 1 MPa pristine 17 for composite 5 wt% content. are also responsible increasing dielectric constant ≈1000 up ≈9000 (10 composite), properties, maximum magnetization ≈16 emu.g−1 coercive field ≈3.4 kOe composite. A actuator has been developed excellent displacement.
